I had a girls’ night in recently and one of the girls brought a selection of cheeses from La Cave a Fromage in South Kensington. I’ve had a lot of cheese in my time, but I have say that there were a few selections from this cheese plate that blew my mind.
Here’s what I thought of each cheese:
Comte Grand Reserve: A very good compte. The flavour here was fairly subtle.
Bellingham Blue: One of the best blue cheeses I have had in a long time. Smooth, pungent, but no after taste.
Brin D’Amour: A light, rosemary-crusted soft cheese. While very good, it was the plain Jane of the group.
Rocamadour: Gooey and packed with a punch, this is the reason you eat cheese.
Plaisir au Chablis: The belle of the ball, this is a cheese that has changed my life. I crave this cheese now. I want to eat it every day.
The girls and I are already planning an evening out at La Cave a Fromage and me and the Chablis are planning our wedding.
